It was 12th January 1964, when Jeff Bezos was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He went to River Oaks Elementary School in Houston. He was very much inspired by his grandfather, who was his role model. The Dream Institute, an educational summer camp for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, where Mr. Bezos started his first business.

He went to Florida with his family where he attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School where he recognized his love for computers. Jeff had scientific interests and technological proficiency. The family moved to Miami, Florida where Jeff attended Miami Palmetto High School. He also worked at McDonalds as a short-order line cook during the breakfast shift.

He got the degree of graduation and later he decided to study Physics at Princeton University, but his love for computers pulled him towards it. Later, he completed graduation in May 1986 with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and also in electrical Engineering from Princeton University. Mr. Bezos went to Wall Street, where Computer Science was in demand and he worked in many firms as well.

First Business Venture

He started his first business venture when he was studying in high school. He went to Princeton University to study computers and improved an IBM program in California.

After completing graduation, Bezos worked for several firms at Wall Street. He joined D.E. Shaw and Co, New York, and became the youngest vice president there.

At the age of 30 years, he started doing a street job, but he saw promise in the future of the internet economy and got an idea to build a bookstore at an online platform.

He decided to leave his job and take a risk and started a virtual bookstore in Seattle. He developed a site called Amazon in his garage with the help of a few employees.

Initially, Amazon was associated with an online bookstore and was competing with the local bookstores and Barnes and Nobles. Gradually, it expanded its services and included free super savers shipping.

He called the company as - Cadabra, but decided to start the name with A, and opted the name - Amazon as it symbolized the largest river on the planet.

Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in July 1994, as an online bookstore from his garage, after writing its business plan on a cross-country drive from New York City to Seattle. In 1997, the company went public, and he started expanding his business in January 1998. It also formed A9, which was a commercial search engine which was focusing on e-commerce websites, and also brought the sporting goods store which offered upto 3,000 different brands.

He was the first to be included in Forbes Worlds Billionaires list in 1999 with a registered net worth of 10 Billion Dollars, and currently the second richest man on Earth.

He founded Blue Origins, which is an aerospace company that is developing technologies to offer space travel to customers.

Amazon introduced a handheld electronic reading device - The Kindle, which uses E-Ink to render text with adjustable font size in order to enhance ease of reading. He also founded the Amazon Studios apart from Amazon Local, LivingSocial and Amazon Web Services, to present the television programs through the Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon was named as the top retailer by the National Retail Federation. It was also rewarded by the Gold medal award. His efforts made Amazon the largest online marketplace in the world.

Amazon developed Alexa - the Virtual Assistance Technology which was able to perform virtual tasks, and many other tasks as well. He used to do worthful contribution for the society and was providing scholarships to the students. He is currently the executive chairman of Amazon group.
